Detoxing my liver was my number one priority after my baby and I decided not to breastfeed anymore.
Towards the end of last the trimester of my pregnancy I experienced a condition called obstetric cholestasis. Basically, your liver stops working properly and the symptoms are very uncomfortable, but that is another story !
I just decided to detox my liver. I did it by adding dried papaya seeds to my diet.
As I mentioned in my previous post ” Papaya: A tropical Goodness”. Papayas have great properties that help you detox and maintain a healthy gut. However, the most effective way to intake papaya seeds to detox your liver is by grinding them, adding lemon and taking this mixture twice a day for over a month.
To be honest with you , I don’t like its texture at all. So, I decided to prepare a salad dressing with the seeds and the lemon to disguise its texture.
Eat something delicious while detoxing the liver. Give it a try !
Here it is the recipe;
¼ cup of diced papaya pulp (ripe)
1 or 2 teaspoons fresh cilantro
1 or 2 teaspoons of honey or maple syrup
1 lime or lemon juice
1 teaspoon of Apple cider (optional)
2 teaspoons of ground Dried papaya seeds
Olive oil or avocado oil
1. Get the papaya seeds, dry them as I explained in my post “Papaya A tropical Goodness”
2. Grind the papaya seeds with the lime/lemon juice
3. Pour all the ingredients into your food processor, except for the oil.
4. While processing the ingredients, slowly start adding the oil to thicken the dressing. Add this dressing to your favorite salads. That’s it !
Easy, simple, delicious !!!
Caution: DO NOT eat papaya seeds if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive.
