Our life habits have changed rapidly these days. Probably you are spending a lot of time in front of technological devices. Lately, during my practice of both yoga and osteopathy, I see more cases of muscle tension in the cervical,TMJ, neck, trapezoid areas.
What is that?
Most of us are working from home. For this reason, it is not easy to draw the line between working hours and resting time. The same situation is happening to our kids. They are taking virtual classes, which are making them be in front of devices for longer periods of time. This situation is causing more kids and adults to experience bad posture. This ” misalignment” is causing a variety of pains and aches.
What are the consequences of maintaining a forward head position for long periods of time?
Undoubtedly, you will feel pain. The ligaments, muscles and nerves get inflamed. This inflammation creates back, shoulder, and waist pain. If these ailments remain untreated, they could be the cause of migraines or more severe health problems such as;
- spinal degeneration,
- nerve damage,
- gastrointestinal problems
- Loss of lung capacity.
How to avoid pain caused by improper neck position?
- Take productive and frequent breaks accompanied by stretching.
- Make sure your workstation is ergonomic.
- Elevate the position of your Cellular phone to a higher level to avoid head-to-front shift.
How to fix problems caused by improper neck position?
